The Centers for Disease Control has confirmed what South Dakota health officials suspected; a 30-something Minnehaha County resident was infected with the H1N1 virus.

Testing at the state health lab in Pierre on Thursday has also uncovered another probable case of the illness in a Lincoln County child under ten years old. Despite a total of three probable cases still awaiting confirmation from the CDC, health officials say there is no reason to panic.

"The most important message is that there are things we can do to prevent it quite easily. Washing our hands, coughing into our sleeve or a kleenex and staying away from people who are sick," SD Department of Health Secretary Doneen Hollingsworth said.

Hollingsworth says the infected person has since recovered without being hospitalized.
