The people who held that tea party at Covell Lake three months ago got together again Thursday to make another political point.  The protest drew similar crowds at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds but for a different cause, health care.

Thursday's Health Care Rally included speeches from doctors from around the nation rallying against President Barack Obama's plan for comprehensive health care reform. Those who showed up say it's a matter of keeping their freedoms.

There were flags, flyers and even Abraham Lincoln made an appearance at the fairgrounds.  The grassroots organization that brought it all together hopes their work will draw the attention from politicians across the country.

“They've taken over the banking, auto, tobacco, energy industries. Now they want to take over health care. Nothing threatens our freedom more than the government taking over health care because it will never be reversed,” organizer Dr. Allen Unruh said.

President Obama's mission for health care reform is to provide, 'high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans.' He's outlined eight goals for that mission but for some who work in health care, or are on the receiving end, say the plan should never make it to the President's desk.

“Getting people together, show this movement to stop outrageous control by the U.S. Government,” attendee Lawrence Goodis said.

Persuading politicians to take a second look at the reform, these protestors also hope to promote what they think might be a better answer.

“We think empowering doctors and patients is the answer. Letting everyone use tax incentives to invest in their own health care,” Unruh said.

With more than 1,000 people in attendance, organizers expect Thursday's protest to at least bring more light to a flawed health care system.

Earlier this week, we spoke with Representative Herseth-Sandlin who says a nationalized health care plan is not what Congress is considering. She says she's looking at one that would give patients a choice between public and private health care options.
