This Friday, KELOLAND-TV is joining in with the rest of the nation's stations in the complete switchover to DTV. To help you prepare for the change, we're answering viewer-submitted questions about the DTV transition.
The first question has to do with DTV and High Definition television. Viewers getting our signal by antenna are wondering what the difference is between the two.
"One thing to remember: all HDTV is digital, but not all digital TV is HDTV. So if you're getting widescreen programming, a lot of the CBS programming that you receive over the antenna on KELOLAND-TV is High Definition, but not everything you are seeing on KELOLAND DTV is High Definition," KELO-TV Director of Marketing & Creative Services Paul Farmer said.
We'd like to point out that you need an HDTV in order to watch HD programming.
The second question has to do with smaller types of TVs. Viewers are wondering if they'll be able to get broadcasts on portable, hand-held TVs when the DTV switch is made.
"Any analog television, whether it's a portable model that you'll find in a camper, or maybe if you're carrying around, or an analog television that's in your home, will not be able to receive the digital signal. If you have an analog TV, like in your camper, you will need a convert box to view our digital signal," Farmer said.
We'll continue answering your questions about the digital transition. All you have to do is email using the link below.
