There are H1N1 and seasonal vaccination clinics going on across the state. The first question is where can you get the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine. The second question is will they give it to you?
Two clinics are scheduled for Thursday. In Sioux Falls, it's invitation only. Two-thousand doses of the H1N1 vaccine will be given to people who work closely with infants and children between the ages of six-months and four-years-old. Several of the area's largest child care centers have been notified of the clinic.
Anyone can take their children to Vermillion High School to get the H1N1 vaccine or their regular flu shot. The seasonal vaccine will be available for children six-months to 18-years-old and the H1N1 vaccine will be given to children six-months to four-years of age only. That clinic runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"There is concern in the community about when we will get our doses and when that will be available. So I'm pleased that we do physically have at least the first tier available here in Vermillion," Vermillion Mayor Dan Christopherson said.
Children will be screened at each clinic to make sure they are the right age to receive the vaccine, as recommended by the CDC. There are also two H1N1 vaccination clinics Thursday in Rapid City.
