The committee that manages the operation of the South Dakota Legislature has decided to impose some restrictions on travel by lawmakers during the rest of this budget year.
The Legislature's Executive Board unanimously agreed to let no more than 29 lawmakers travel to national association meetings during the rest of this budget year, which ends June 30. Each lawmaker will be limited to only one trip.
Legislative Research Council director Jim Fry says the trips are not junkets. He says lawmakers learn a lot at the national meetings.
