South Dakota legislative committees will study financing options for highways and a program that pays the medical expenses of poor people. The Legislature's Executive Board has picked topics for studies that will be done during the summer and fall months.
Committees will be reviewing the operations of the state Transportation Department and the state Personnel Bureau. The Transportation review will include a study of ways to finance highways.
Another committee will study suggestions for financing Medicaid, the state-federal program that covers the medical expenses of poor people.
Yet another panel will review all state laws involving liquor. And another committee will review state laws dealing with the registry that contains the names of people convicted of sex offenses.
