Police have made an arrest after receiving a report of a man with a gun near Whittier Park. The reporting party was threatened by a suspect in the park.

Numerous officers responded to the area around 2 p.m. Friday and made contact with the subject, according to a news release.

The man, 21-year-old Randall Taylor White, was found to be in possession of a large knife in a sheath.  White was arrested for possession of a concealed weapon and aggravated assault. He's currently being held at the Minnehaha County Jail.

Officials say due to the close proximity to Whittier Middle School, the front doors were locked for a short time until the suspect was in custody.
