Washington Celebrates State Championship Win

Washington's win over Aberdeen Central was the school's 36th state football title. That's a national record. But it has been a long time coming.
It's the Warriors' first title of the playoff era, first title since 1967, and first undefeated team in 49 years.

For a school with as much football tradition as Washington, patience is awfully tough to ask for.

After a 10-1 season, Emery-Ethan's football team will play in the 9-AA state championship Friday. It will also be the final game of the program's co-op.
At least, as we know it.

In 22 years as a co-op, Emery-Ethan's success speaks for itself. A 154-56 record and three state titles -- make that four if the Seahawks win Friday.

HSFB: The Battle For Hull, IA

In a day and age where co-ops are king, its rare for two teams to call one small town home. But that's the situation in Hull, Iowa for Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and Western Christian. And when the two sides meet Friday night in the Class 2A quarterfinals, moving on won't be the only thing at stake.
Despite cliches like "taking it one game at a time" or "it's just another game," not even the coaches can deny Friday's matchup between Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and Western Christian is a little different.

"It's a unique dynamic," said Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley coach Cory Brandt.  "A lot of times, to go to the UNI Dome, you're playing somebody you don't know.
