SF Flyers Seeking Challenge In Tier II League

After back-to-back state championships in the South Dakota High School Hockey League, the Sioux Falls Flyers decided to seek out a bigger challenge. So starting this season, the Flyers are taking their game to the next level.
Literally.

The Midwest Hockey League is in the Tier II level of USA Hockey, made up of teams from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and now -- for the first time ever -- South Dakota. 

"We've got a good group of seniors that have won two state championships in a row," coach T.J.

Sisseton Coach Reflects On West Central Win

The most entertaining game during Tuesday's opening round of the South Dakota High School Football playoffs was also the night's biggest upset. 
Sisseton quarterback Ryan Toelle threw for a state record 595 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Redmen to a stunning 48-47 win over top-ranked West Central.

HSSB: Watertown's Heiser Featured In SI

Kelli Heiser, a senior at Watertown High, threw 43 2/3 of her team's 47 innings on a single day to help the Arrows go 6-1 and win the state Class AA softball tournament. She had a 1.44 ERA and 27 strikeouts, and also drove in six runs. During the regular season Kelli, who was named all-tournament and all-state, led the Arrows with 27 RBIs.

HSFB: BV's Sumner 2 TDs From History

 The regular season in South Dakota high school football will wrap up tomorrow night, and Brandon Valley quarterback Austin Sumner has a chance to go out with a bang.
Sumner needs two touchdown passes in his team's finale against Watertown to become South Dakota's new all-time leader.

HSFB: Washington Battling The Flu Bug

You don't have to check a classroom to see the effects of the flu on Sioux Falls schools, the virus is also hitting hard on the football field.
Just about every team has had to deal with illnesses this season, but few have been hit as hard as Washington was last week. The top-ranked Warriors only sent 36 players to their game in Rapid City on Friday, ten less than normal.
