If it seems Monday was the first time in a long time that you needed your sunglasses, you are right.
We always expect a few cloudy, cool days during the early part of fall but the past few weeks is by far the worst stretch of cloudy days we've seen in years.
By definition, a cloudy day is one that is cloudy at least 75 percent of the day. Looking at the numbers so far this month, this is the cloudiest month in Sioux Falls since March of 2006. If the forecast holds, cloudy days on Thursday and Friday could send this month into the books as the cloudiest in five years.
As you would expect, the number of clear days, those with less than 35 percent cloud cover, has totaled five days for the whole month.
Another depressing statistic in a month that will also go down as one of the wettest and coldest Octobers.
