Snow has already started in western KELOLAND and it will continue through the night and into tomorrow. As a storm system enters the Nebraska panhandle, snow will intensify in western South Dakota tonight and will combine with strong northwest winds to allow for visibilities near zero at times. The snow amounts tonight in western South Dakota will range from 3 to 8 inches with the higher amounts in the Hills. At the same time, rain will fall in central and eastern South Dakota and continue through Thursday with amounts of a half to a full inch possible. Rain will change to snow during the afternoon along and near the Missouri River in central and north central KELOLAND. The snow will continue in these areas through Thursday night with amounts of 4-8” possible from Pierre to Mobridge. As the storm system moves northeast, it will drag the snow into northeast KELOLAND but the amounts will not be as impressive. Aberdeen, Watertown, and Sisseton might be able to get 2-4” of snow but it shouldn’t start until Thursday night. Southeast KELOLAND (from Brookings to Mitchell and southeast) might skip out on the snow entirely. Though I wouldn’t be surprised for a few flakes of snow Friday morning in the southeast, any snow that falls will stay very light.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK…
The first week and a half of November is looking much drier and warmer! It should be a good time to get any work done outdoors before winter really starts to set in.
