A major storm is moving through the middle of the country, bringing large amounts of snow and rain to parts of the state.

Most of the heaviest snow is expected across western portions of South Dakota with mostly rain in the east. Pierre will be a bit of a transition point with rain changing over to snow. Depending on how quickly the rain changes over to snow some parts of central South Dakota may also end up with accumulating snowfall. The rain will likely be heavy at times in the east. Tonight the precip continues across the state with some snow possible even in the Aberdeen area. The southeast should see only rain from this system. After lingering rain and snow showers early Friday we should dry out for the coming weekend. Temperatures will start cool but more warming is likely for next week.

Remember if you have pictures or video of any interesting weather that you would like us to share with KELOLAND feel free to pass them along; even if they are posted on Facebook, Flickr or any other site. Just send us the link! Or email them directly to stormcenter@keloland.com.
